Note:
Traversing Polar Bear is a fabulous example of Henry Evaluardjuk’s skill and dexterity as an artist. Born in Igloolik, Nunavut, Evaluardjuk is known for his highly realistic depictions of animals, most notably, his polar bears. Having had works exhibited across the country, and included in permanent collections of the National Gallery and many other museums, Evaluardjuk is one of Canada’s most prominent Inuit artists. His meticulous attention to detail and expert handling of stone yield superb, lifelike results, something unexpected coming from an artist who was predominantly self-taught.
