Featured in Our Inaugural Concrete Contemporary Auction

An expressive artist of virtuoso colour and form, Philip Iverson worked in oil paint and collage on multi-sized wood panels, often piecing a surface together from found materials to create a sculptural base for energetic paint.

Iverson is known for his highly-wrought portraits, often oversize impressions of members of the arts community such as Roy Lichtenstein (2002), Andy Warhol (2002), Keith Haring (2002) as well as for landscapes of his adopted home of Montreal and native New Brunswick.

Iverson exhibited his work extensively in Montreal, Toronto, the Maritimes, and Newfoundland, as well as in Germany, and is represented in collections such as the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in Fredericton, New Brunswick and the Centre d’exposition de Baie-St-Paul Quebec, as well as in many private collections.

Dead at age 41 of a brain tumor, Iverson leaves a vital and abiding legacy of emotional self-expression through paint and drawing media.
